Japanese lawmakers re-launched the Parliamentary Israel Allies Caucus, joining 62 global caucuses defending Israel, combating antisemitism, and promoting Judeo-Christian values.
The Parliamentary Israel Allies Caucus in Japan has been formally re-launched, marking Japan’s return to the growing global network of pro-Israel parliamentary caucuses coordinated by the Israel Allies Foundation (IAF).
The ceremony, held at the House of Councilors Members’ Office in Tokyo, gathered Japanese parliamentarians, diplomats, and faith leaders, alongside representatives of the Israeli and U.S. embassies. Both ambassadors delivered remarks, while Rev. Johnnie Moore, Executive Chairman of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), shared a video message on humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
IAF President Josh Reinstein addressed the gathering, underscoring the caucus’ mission to bolster bilateral ties, defend Israel against delegitimization, and promote shared Judeo-Christian values. A signing ceremony formalized the caucus’ re-launch, followed by a presentation to the Japanese Foreign Relations and Defense Committee stressing the importance of closer Japan–Israel cooperation.
Rev. Michihito Kaneko, Member of the House of Councilors and newly appointed Chair of the caucus, declared:
“As Chair of the Parliamentary Israel Allies Caucus, I am honored to lead its re-launch in Japan. Our caucus will strengthen bilateral relations, support Israel internationally, and stand united against antisemitism and delegitimization.”
Reinstein hailed the move as a critical signal of solidarity:
“At a time when misinformation and hostility are on the rise, it is deeply significant that Japan’s leaders are choosing to strengthen their partnership with Israel and affirm the values that bind our nations together.”
The re-launch comes amid rising global antisemitism and ongoing security challenges for Israel. While Japan has a small Jewish population and historically limited ties to Israel, the decision by Japanese lawmakers to re-join the IAF network reflects a growing recognition of Israel’s importance on the world stage.
The Israel Allies Foundation, founded in 2007, now coordinates 62 caucuses worldwide. By emphasizing faith-based diplomacy, the IAF unites legislators across continents who affirm Israel’s right to exist in peace within secure borders. With Japan’s renewed participation, Asia adds a stronger voice to this coalition of global solidarity.
