Trump Administration Pushes $6 Billion Arms Deal to Bolster Israel’s Military Edge

A $6 billion US arms package—including Apache helicopters and thousands of assault vehicles—will significantly expand Israel’s military power despite regional backlash.

The Trump administration is moving forward with a massive $6 billion arms sale to Israel, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The deal underscores Washington’s ironclad commitment to Israel’s security at a time of escalating threats across the Middle East.

The proposed package includes:

  • $3.8 billion for 30 AH-64 Apache attack helicopters, nearly doubling Israel’s fleet and dramatically enhancing its ability to strike terror targets from the air.
  • $1.9 billion for 3,250 infantry assault vehicles, bolstering the IDF’s ground maneuvering power against Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iranian proxies.

The weapons, financed through US foreign military funding, are expected to be delivered within two to three years. The State Department has already sent the deal to the top leaders of the House Foreign Affairs and Senate Foreign Relations Committees for approval—an essential step before formal congressional notification.

The request was submitted about a month before Israel’s September 9 strike in Qatar targeting Hamas leaders. Despite the regional uproar and even President Trump’s frustration over the timing of the strike, the administration has not wavered in advancing the arms sales.

The deal reflects a steady expansion of US arms support for Israel:

  • Under Joe Biden, Washington surged weapons to Israel after Hamas’s October 7, 2023 massacre, though Biden briefly froze shipments of 2,000- and 500-pound bombs during a dispute over Rafah.
  • Trump, upon taking office, lifted Biden’s restrictions and authorized the release of advanced munitions, reaffirming America’s role as Israel’s most reliable ally.

For Israel, this new package will ensure the IDF retains its qualitative military edge (QME), a strategic doctrine guaranteeing Israel the upper hand over any regional adversary. For its enemies, the message is clear: Israel’s strength, backed by US support, will remain unmatched.
