Visiting reserve fighters in Gaza before Rosh Hashanah, IDF Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir honored fallen soldiers and urged warriors of the Yiftah Brigade to draw strength from Israel’s national pain and destiny.
On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, the IDF Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir, paid a heartfelt visit to reserve fighters of the Yiftah Brigade (11), now engaged in fierce combat against Hamas in Gaza. It was the brigade’s third mobilization since the war began—a testament to their commitment and endurance.
Standing among the men, Zamir delivered a stirring message of resilience and destiny:
“In this war we have lost many soldiers, there is great pain — but from this pain grows great strength. The strength of the people of Israel comes from you. This is our turn, this is our generation, there is no one else who will do these things.”
His words carried profound weight, echoing the eternal Jewish belief in sacrifice, renewal, and national responsibility, particularly as the Jewish New Year approaches.
The Yiftah Brigade, renowned for its courage and historic role since Israel’s early battles, symbolizes the unbroken chain of Jewish defense and sovereignty. Today, they carry that legacy into Gaza, confronting terror so that Israel’s future generations may live in security.
For Israelis, Zamir’s declaration reinforced a timeless truth: Israel’s survival and strength come not from foreign approval, but from the courage of its sons and daughters who rise to defend it.
