Israel’s leader arrives in New York to address the UN General Assembly and meet President Trump, vowing to expose global hypocrisy and defend Israel’s right to security.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has landed in New York City on Thursday, beginning a pivotal visit to the United States that will include a major speech at the United Nations General Assembly and a high-level meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.
Before departure from Israel, Netanyahu pledged to confront head-on the leaders and governments who, instead of condemning Hamas for the atrocities of October 7, are rewarding terrorism with recognition of a Palestinian state.
“At the UN General Assembly, I will speak our truth,” Netanyahu said. “I will condemn those leaders who, instead of denouncing the murderers, rapists, and child burners, want to give them a state in the heart of the Land of Israel. That will not happen.”
Netanyahu is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on Friday at 9:00 a.m. New York time (4:00 p.m. Israel time), where he is expected to challenge the narrative of countries that recognized a Palestinian state in recent weeks and underscore Israel’s principled opposition to Palestinian statehood under current conditions.
On Monday, he will meet with President Trump in Washington — their fourth such meeting in recent months — to coordinate strategy on defeating Hamas, freeing the remaining 48 hostages held in Gaza, and expanding the circle of peace in the Middle East following Israel’s military successes, including Operation Rising Lions.
The visit comes as Israel has also launched a massive public diplomacy campaign in New York, with billboards and trucks near the UN and in Times Square carrying the message: “REMEMBER OCTOBER 7.” The campaign highlights the ongoing brutality of Hamas and serves as a backdrop to Netanyahu’s diplomatic mission.
