Iran’s Desperate Cyber Psy-Op: Israelis Flooded with Fake Recruitment Calls in Failed Intimidation Campaign

Hundreds of Israelis received bizarre calls from Iranian operatives in broken Hebrew, exposing Tehran’s failed attempt to sow fear and recruit agents.

Israelis woke up Saturday to a wave of suspicious phone calls that officials say came straight from Iran’s intelligence network. Hundreds of citizens reported receiving pre-recorded messages in clumsy, broken Hebrew, claiming: “Iranian intelligence is looking for qualified agents.”

The Israel Police and the National Cyber Directorate confirmed that the calls originated from suspicious prefixes (03-6817 and 03-3067) and were part of a coordinated psychological warfare campaign designed to intimidate and possibly recruit collaborators.

But instead of instilling fear, the stunt only highlighted Iran’s growing desperation. Officials stressed that the calls pose no technical risk—simply answering them does not compromise a phone. Citizens are advised to hang up immediately and avoid pressing any buttons during such calls.

The Directorate has launched a full investigation in cooperation with Israel’s security agencies. Analysts believe the poorly executed attempt underscores Tehran’s frustration after repeated blows to its terror proxies and nuclear program.

This latest ploy proves once again that while Iran seeks to undermine Israel through cyber tricks and psychological warfare, the Israeli public remains resilient, united, and alert.
