Canada Jails Man for Holocaust Denial in Landmark Case: “Hatred Against Jews Will Not Be Tolerated”

In a precedent-setting ruling, a North Bay man was sentenced to jail for Holocaust denial and hate propaganda — the first conviction of its kind in Canada.

A Canadian court has delivered a historic ruling against antisemitism, sentencing 51-year-old Kenneth Paulin of North Bay, Ontario to nine months in jail and two years of probation for repeatedly spreading hate and Holocaust denial online.

According to the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC), this marks the first-ever Canadian conviction for Holocaust denial, setting a new legal precedent in the country’s battle against antisemitism.

Prosecutors proved that Paulin spent months publishing dozens of social media posts and videos vilifying Jews, spreading medieval blood libels and conspiracy theories, and denying the Holocaust. Among his most shocking posts, Paulin called Jews “demons” and “the greatest mass murderers in human history,” endorsed a “Worldwide Jew Hunt,” and mocked Holocaust victims by posting: “Six million didn’t happen but it should’ve.”

The court also cited his video titled “Their victim card gets permanently denied as the hollow-cost-Hoax is exposed” as clear evidence of Holocaust denial and incitement to violence.

In a community impact statement, FSWC’s Senior Director of Policy and Advocacy Jaime Kirzner-Roberts described Paulin’s activity as “an orchestrated effort to spread hatred, to normalize antisemitism, and to encourage others to view Jews as enemies to be mocked, hunted and destroyed.”

Commenting on the sentencing, Kirzner-Roberts emphasized:

“The vile antisemitism we are confronting today has inflicted deep and lasting harm on Jewish Canadians, the minority group most frequently targeted by hate crimes in this country. But such hatred does not end with Jews — it corrodes democracy, emboldens extremists, and threatens the values that hold Canada together.”

FSWC hailed the conviction as a victory for human dignity and a strong signal that Canada will not tolerate Holocaust denial, incitement of hatred, or the glorification of genocide.
