US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee marks two years since Hamas’s massacre with a powerful message of solidarity and hope under Trump’s leadership.
On the solemn second anniversary of the October 7, 2023 Hamas massacre, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee delivered a deeply moving message on X, reaffirming America’s unwavering alliance with the Jewish state and announcing a historic Trump-brokered deal to secure the release of the final hostages held in Gaza.
“Two years ago, during Shabbat and the joyous festival of Simchat Torah, Hamas—backed and financed by Iran—unleashed the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust,” Huckabee wrote. “That peaceful morning was shattered as 1,200 innocent Israelis were slaughtered and over 250 people, including Americans, were dragged into Gaza’s terror tunnels.”
Huckabee honored the 1,152 Israeli soldiers and security personnel who fell defending Israel’s existence during what he called a “multi-front war for survival.” He recalled visiting Israel shortly after the attacks, long before he would serve as US Ambassador, and expressed anguish that “two years later, families of the hostages are still living this nightmare.”
Now, under President Donald Trump’s decisive leadership, that nightmare may finally be ending. Huckabee revealed that a new US-brokered agreement has been reached to secure the release of all 48 remaining hostages—both living and deceased—including two US citizens. The ambassador described the deal as “a moment of long-awaited closure” that also “lays the groundwork for lasting peace and moral clarity.”
“Throughout these two years, I have witnessed the courage, unity, and resilience of the Israeli people,” Huckabee continued. “Their strength in the face of barbarism inspires all who cherish freedom.”
He concluded with a solemn vow: “As President Trump has said, we will always remember and never forget October 7. Evil and antisemitism are not abstract—they are real, and they must be confronted with strength and truth. Together, we will defend freedom and the Jewish people.”
