Hamas Turns on Its Own: Gaza’s Bloody Purge Exposes Terror Group’s Desperation to Cling to Power

Hamas unleashes a brutal wave of executions against rival Gaza militias, defying ceasefire terms and proving its refusal to disarm.

When the people of Gaza hoped for peace after the ceasefire with Israel, Hamas turned its guns inward, launching a bloody purge to tighten its grip on power. In scenes reminiscent of dictatorship brutality, the terror group executed rivals in semi-public displays of fear and control.

According to Shafaq News, at least eight people were executed by Hamas firing squads, while over 50 members of rival militias—including the influential Doghmush clan—were killed in fierce clashes. Masked Hamas operatives, belonging to the group’s notorious Arrow Unit, carried out the killings with victims blindfolded and bound. The footage, now circulating online, has shocked Gaza’s population, already reeling from two years of devastation.

Reports from Ynet confirm that Hamas fighters used ambulances to infiltrate neighborhoods, violating international humanitarian norms and putting civilians directly in harm’s way. Even within its own ranks, the violence has claimed the lives of twelve Hamas members, including the son of senior leader Bassem Naim.

Analysts believe this massacre signals Hamas’s refusal to relinquish control or surrender its arsenal, despite clear ceasefire terms brokered by the United States. Joe Truzman of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies said the killings show Hamas is “settling scores” and reasserting dominance after “emerging from its tunnels.”

“Hamas is using executions to remind Gaza who rules—even if that means turning Gaza into a graveyard,” said FDD analyst Ahmad Sharawi, warning that the group’s continued militarization poses the biggest obstacle to lasting peace.

The bloodshed follows the first phase of the U.S.-mediated peace plan, which saw hostage exchanges between Israel and Hamas. Under that deal, Hamas was expected to disarm and relinquish control of Gaza’s governance—a condition Jerusalem considers non-negotiable. Yet, instead of dismantling its war machine, Hamas is executing rivals, defying international oversight, and sabotaging peace efforts.

Israeli officials reaffirmed that IDF forces will maintain strategic positions in Rafah, northern Gaza, and along the border until Hamas’s full disarmament is verifiably complete. “There can be no peace while Hamas holds weapons,” an Israeli defense source stated.

The terror group’s brutality now stands as undeniable proof: Hamas does not seek peace—it seeks perpetual control, even if it must rule over the ruins of Gaza itself.
