India to Host Global UN Peacekeeping Chiefs’ Conclave in New Delhi (Oct 14–16, 2025)

The Indian Army is set to host one of the largest international military gatherings under the United Nations framework — a three-day UN Chiefs’ Conclave bringing together top military leadership from 32 troop-contributing countries (TCCs) between 14th and 16th October 2025.

The conclave will see participation from 15 Army Chiefs and 17 senior military leaders at the level of Vice Chiefs and top commanders from seven additional nations. The event underscores India’s leadership role as one of the world’s most consistent and respected contributors to UN peacekeeping operations.

Key Dignitaries and Representation

The gathering will be addressed by:

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh
  • External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar
  • Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi
  • Under-Secretary-General for UN Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix

Lacroix remarked that the conference “provides a vital space for UN police and troop-contributing countries to exchange lessons, strengthen cooperation, and deepen collaboration, all in the pursuit of peace,” emphasizing that “peacekeeping remains one of the most powerful tools the international community can wield to prevent, mitigate, and end conflict.”

Participating Nations

Countries represented at the Chiefs’ level include:
🇧🇹 Bhutan, 🇧🇮 Burundi, 🇪🇹 Ethiopia, 🇫🇯 Fiji, 🇫🇷 France, 🇬🇭 Ghana, 🇰🇿 Kazakhstan, 🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan, 🇲🇳 Mongolia, 🇵🇱 Poland, 🇱🇰 Sri Lanka, 🇹🇿 Tanzania, 🇺🇬 Uganda, 🇺🇾 Uruguay, and 🇻🇳 Vietnam.

Senior military officials from Algeria, Armenia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Italy, Nepal, Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, Australia, Egypt, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Thailand, and Madagascar will also attend at high command levels.

India’s Legacy in UN Peacekeeping

India remains among the largest and most steadfast contributors to UN peace missions.
Over the past 75 years, the country has deployed more than 2,90,000 personnel across 50 missions, earning global recognition for professionalism, discipline, and humanitarian commitment.

Agenda and Focus Areas

The conclave will feature a series of thematic sessions dedicated to:

  • Strategic peacekeeping doctrine and evolving threats
  • Improving interoperability and command coordination
  • Leveraging technology and data-driven mission support
  • Enhancing the safety and effectiveness of peacekeepers

Defence Industry Showcase

On the sidelines of the conclave, the Indian Army will organize a Defence Technology Exhibition, highlighting India’s expanding defence manufacturing ecosystem and indigenous innovation under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-Reliant India) initiative.
The exhibit will display advanced equipment, AI-integrated systems, surveillance drones, tactical communication gear, and armoured mobility platforms designed and built domestically.

Strategic Significance

The gathering will not only strengthen India’s diplomatic and operational ties with fellow UN partners but also position New Delhi as a central node in future peacekeeping innovation and training collaborations.
It reaffirms India’s commitment to “global peace through strength, service, and solidarity.”
