Prime Minister Netanyahu Diagnosed with Bronchitis, Cancels Schedule to Rest at Home

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is recovering from bronchitis under medical supervision, with his condition described as mild and non-contagious.

Israel’s leader, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has temporarily stepped back from his duties after being diagnosed with bronchitis, his office confirmed Tuesday. The condition, while uncomfortable, is not life-threatening and poses no risk to those around him, according to his personal physician, Dr. Tzvi Berkowitz.

Following medical advice, Netanyahu has canceled all official engagements for the remainder of the day and is resting at home, where he continues to receive close monitoring.

Officials in the Prime Minister’s Office emphasized that Netanyahu remains fully alert and in command, maintaining contact with key aides and national security staff as needed. “The Prime Minister is resting and following his doctor’s recommendations. His condition is stable and improving,” said an aide.

Sources close to the Prime Minister said that despite his illness, Netanyahu remains engaged with developments surrounding the ongoing Gaza peace process and national security briefings, albeit remotely.

Israelis across the political spectrum have sent messages of refua shlema — wishes for a full recovery — to the nation’s longest-serving leader.

As one Likud party member put it, “He’s a fighter — for Israel, for its security, and for his health. He’ll be back at work in no time.”
