Qatar Exposed: MEMRI Uncovers Advisor’s Praise for Hamas Terror, Reveals Doha’s Ongoing Support for Anti-Israel Extremism

MEMRI exposes Qatar PM’s advisor praising Hamas terror, as studies reveal Doha’s continued backing of Hamas and anti-Israel propaganda.

A bombshell report released by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) has exposed the deeply troubling anti-Israel writings of Majed Al-Ansari — now a senior advisor to Qatar’s Prime Minister and an official spokesman for its Foreign Ministry. Long before presenting himself as a “neutral mediator,” Al-Ansari openly praised Hamas rocket attacks and glorified terrorism against Israelis.

In an article published during Israel’s 2014 Operation Protective Edge, Al-Ansari wrote in the Qatari state-run daily Al-Arab that Hamas’ rocket fire filled him with “optimism,” even as Israeli civilians in Tel Aviv were forced into bomb shelters under relentless sirens. He applauded the fear inflicted on Israelis while simultaneously framing terrorist assaults as “resistance.”

His rhetoric went further — condemning Egypt and several Gulf governments as “enemies of Gaza” because they refused to endorse Hamas’ violence. Al-Ansari lamented that pro-Hamas commentators in the region had hoped Israel would be pressured into allowing Hamas’ survival, and he promised readers that “Allah’s victory” over Israel was close at hand.

This is not an isolated case. Jewish Insider previously revealed that Al-Ansari celebrated Palestinian suicide bombings — yet Qatar elevated him to top diplomatic roles.

A separate landmark study by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs underscores that Qatar’s support for Hamas did not diminish after the October 7th massacre. Instead, Doha doubled down — publicly blaming Israel for the attack, echoing Hamas talking points, and insisting Israel’s defensive operations were “disproportionate.”

The research found Qatar systematically attempted to restrain Israel’s right to self-defense, aligning itself with Hamas’ strategy of creating a “unity of fronts” against the Jewish state. Doha also demanded extreme concessions on hostage negotiations, including conditions that would dismantle Jewish communities.

Qatar’s media, meanwhile, glorified the October 7th atrocities with chilling labels such as “Day of Glory,” “heroic operation,” and “natural response,” exposing once again the regime’s role as a global amplifier of anti-Israel extremism.
