ISRAEL EXPANDS SUPPORT FOR ITS FRONTLINE HEROES: NEW RESERVIST BENEFIT REVOLUTION UNVEILED

Finance Committee locks in major deal ensuring every combat reservist—especially low-income heroes—receives permanent financial support.

Israel advances sweeping reform granting permanent income boosts to all combat reservists, including low-income troops previously excluded from tax-credit benefits.

In a powerful opening to Monday’s Finance Committee session, Chairman MK Hanoch Milwidsky announced a major breakthrough in legislation granting expanded financial benefits to Israel’s combat reservists—a move hailed as long overdue recognition for the citizens who have carried the nation on their shoulders during war.

Milwidsky revealed that the committee secured a sweeping change:
ALL reservists will now receive the benefit, including those whose salaries fall below Israel’s tax threshold and therefore could not previously benefit from tax credits.

💰 “3,000 Shekels—Permanent, Not Temporary”

Milwidsky laid out the new framework with crystal clarity:

“Those earning below the tax threshold will receive an average addition of 3,000 shekels—on a permanent basis.”

What had been a temporary wartime provision—set to expire in December 2025—is now locked into law forever, ensuring long-term stability for thousands of reservists.

This supplement ensures low-income soldiers will see their income brought up to 9,800 shekels for each month of reserve service, closing a long-standing gap and reinforcing Israel’s commitment to financial fairness for its fighters.

📉 Starting 2028: Days of Service Requirement Simplified

In another significant update, Milwidsky announced that eligibility thresholds will be eased beginning in 2028, reflecting expectations that the number of required reserve days will shrink as Israel stabilizes its security situation.

Currently, the full benefit is reserved for those who served at least 110 days of reserve duty. But as reality changes, so will the criteria—ensuring reservists aren’t penalized for a reduced operational tempo.

🇮🇱 A Resounding Message: Israel Stands With its Fighters

This legislative achievement sends a clear national message:
Israel’s reservists—who left homes, families, and jobs to defend the nation—will not be forgotten or underpaid.

Milwidsky underscored that the benefit expansion represents not just a technical change, but a moral one:
it closes a long-criticized gap for Israel’s lowest-income reservists—many of whom served on the front lines for months.

The reform marks one of the most significant boosts to reservist welfare in years, cementing the Finance Committee’s role in protecting those who protect Israel.
