Radical TAU Lecturer Begins Hunger Strike After Arrest for Violent Anti-Netanyahu Incitement Online

Dr. Yavor accused of urging rebellion and violence now escalates drama with political hunger strike.

Tel Aviv University lecturer Dr. Yolanda Yavor, arrested last week for incitement to political violence, has now launched a hunger strike while being held at the Kishon Detention Facility — intensifying what police describe as a dangerous pattern of radical rhetoric.

Yavor was taken into custody Thursday over a series of inflammatory posts calling for violent rebellion against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and police have already requested multiple extensions of her detention. Despite no indictment yet being filed, the court agreed to continue holding her due to the severity and potential impact of her statements.

During the remand hearing, Yavor mocked her arrest and shouted:

“People like Mordechai David threaten protesters… but I’m kept in detention for two days. Heil Bibi!”

Her original post urged followers to “fight the traitor,” “use all means,” and launch a Romanian-style rebellion, while calling Netanyahu a traitor and writing:

  • “You don’t topple a dictatorship at the ballot box.”
  • “We’re coming to get you.”

The judge ruled there was “clear suspicion of a call for violence,” citing public danger and possible obstruction of justice, while noting that Yavor cooperated during questioning.

Im Tirzu: Time to end the double standards

The movement Im Tirzu, which filed the initial complaint after monitoring her online incitement, blasted the hunger strike as theatrics:

“Yavor must sit behind bars. The ‘celebrity discount’ for left-wing anarchists must end.”

They noted Yavor has previously been called the “champion of detention,” and said her dramatic hunger-strike tactics do not erase the severity of her threats:

“She incited — now she should face the consequences.”

The case has reignited debate over radical-left activism, free speech, and the growing trend of leftist academics using violent rhetoric under the banner of ‘democracy.’Tel Aviv University lecturer Dr. Yolanda Yavor, arrested last week for incitement to political violence, has now launched a hunger strike while being held at the Kishon Detention Facility — intensifying what police describe as a dangerous pattern of radical rhetoric.
