Musk backs extended MAGA dominance while U.S. politics intensify amid global turmoil fueled by hostile regimes.
Tech magnate Elon Musk privately told members of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) that the United States is entering what he called a “great 12-year span,” predicting an unbroken MAGA hold on the White House through 2036, Politico reports.
Speaking via video link at a closed-door event late last month, Musk forecast that Donald Trump’s second presidential term (ending 2028) would be followed by two consecutive terms under Vice President JD Vance — a political succession he cast as America’s next long-format chapter.
🇺🇸 MUSK’S WHITE HOUSE FORECAST: TRUMP → VANCE → VANCE
Musk’s prediction aligns with current Republican dynamics:
- JD Vance is the early frontrunner for 2028, according to senior GOP figures such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who privately calls him the favorite.
- New polling suggests Vance’s once-commanding 20-point lead over Donald Trump Jr. is already tightening.
But the wild card remains Trump himself.
The president has repeatedly floated the idea of seeking a third term, despite the constitutional barrier of the 22nd Amendment.
“Would I love to do it? Yes. Am I ruling it out? You’ll have to tell me,” Trump said in October, fueling speculation and rattling would-be successors.
Political writer Jonathan Karl believes Trump and strategist Steve Bannon are trolling Vance more than promoting serious constitutional brinkmanship, describing their flirtation with “Trump 2028” as classic Trumpian disruption.
Vance, meanwhile, maintains a public posture of humility, telling Fox News host Sean Hannity that he will only discuss 2028 with Trump after the 2026 midterms.
🤝 MUSK–TRUMP RELATIONSHIP: A YEAR OF ALLIANCE, RIFT, AND RECONCILIATION
Musk’s endorsement of a 12-year MAGA era caps a turbulent year in his relationship with Trump.
🔹 From Mega-Donor to White House Power Broker
Last year, Musk became Trump’s largest campaign donor, securing a high-profile role as Senior Adviser within the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency — a controversial agency that demolished long-standing federal programs while hemorrhaging $21.7 billion.
🔹 The Public Break
After abruptly exiting the administration in May, Musk joined conservatives urging Trump to release the Epstein files, publicly challenging Trump’s dismissal of the issue as a hoax.
🔹 The Reconciliation
Musk has since attempted to restore rapport. The two appeared together at multiple events, including a Saudi investment forum in Washington, where Trump joked:
“You are so lucky I am with you, Elon. Has he ever thanked me properly?”
Taking the cue, Musk soon posted on X:
“I would like to thank President Trump for all he has done for America and the world.”
🏛️ VANCE’S FUTURE: FRONT-RUNNER BUT NOT UNCHALLENGED
Vance’s rise is undeniable:
- He enjoys Trump’s patronage
- Holds a loyal populist base
- Is viewed by GOP insiders as MAGA’s ideological torchbearer
But Trump’s third-term teasing — half-humor, half-warning — underscores the fragility of Vance’s ascent.
Bannon’s private disdain for Vance further complicates the succession narrative.
If Musk is right, however, the MAGA movement will maintain White House control long after Trump leaves office.
