MK Ohad Tal Warns Australia: Rewarding Hamas Terror Fuels Antisemitic Bloodshed From Gaza To Sydney

Recognizing Palestinian state after October seven emboldens Islamists, endangers Jews, demands moral course correction now.

Knesset Warning After Sydney: Appeasement Breeds Terror

In a blistering address to the Knesset plenum, MK Ohad Tal, Chair of the Israel–Australia Parliamentary Friendship Group, delivered a stark message following the terrorist massacre of Jews in Sydney: supporting or justifying terror abroad invites terror at home.

“When you support terror, do not be surprised when you get terror in your backyard,” Tal declared. “When you justify Hamas terror in Israel’s south, you incentivize terror against Jews in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.”

Tal directly condemned the Australian government’s recognition of a so-called ‘State of Palestine’, especially in the aftermath of October 7, calling it a reckless political signal to radical Islamist forces. “What message does this send,” he asked, “when after the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, you reward the perpetrators’ ideological camp with statehood?”

He further criticized Australia’s failure to confront antisemitic protests and online incitement, noting repeated attacks on synagogues and Jewish institutions that have not been met with decisive action. According to Tal, this permissiveness has created an ecosystem where hatred metastasizes into violence.

“Change course before it’s too late,” Tal warned—framing the issue not as diplomacy, but as moral accountability. Recognition without reform, legitimacy without de-radicalization, and silence in the face of incitement, he argued, endanger Jewish lives worldwide.

Closing with the spirit of Hanukkah, Tal invoked Jewish resilience: to emerge from darkness and light the flame of truth, morality, and redemption—not appeasement—for the world.
