US Backs Iranian Protesters as Regime Fails, Currency Collapses, and Streets of Tehran Erupt

Freedom-seeking Iranians rise against ayatollah tyranny, exposing regional instability fueled by Islamist repression and failure.

The United States publicly voiced support for the Iranian people on Tuesday as mass protests intensified across Iran, driven by economic collapse and public fury at the ruling Islamist regime.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Waltz declared solidarity with demonstrators, writing on his official X account: “The people of Iran want freedom. They have suffered at the hands of the Ayatollahs for too long.”

“We stand with Iranians in the streets of Tehran and across the country as they protest a radical regime that has brought them nothing but economic downturn and war,” Waltz added.

Over recent days, large-scale demonstrations have swept Tehran and other cities, sparked by a dramatic deterioration of Iran’s economy. On Sunday, the Iranian rial plunged to an unprecedented low of 1,445,000 rials to the U.S. dollar, compared to roughly 862,000 just a year earlier—an unmistakable sign of regime mismanagement, corruption, and isolation.

Clashes erupted as security forces attempted to suppress the protests using tear gas and stun grenades, underscoring the regime’s reliance on brute force rather than legitimacy. Videos circulating online show crowds chanting against the clerical leadership, blaming it for inflation, unemployment, and decades of international isolation.

Adding to the pressure, the Mossad’s official Farsi-language X account issued an unusually direct message encouraging Iranians to take to the streets. “Come together to the streets. It’s time. We are with you—not just from afar and in words. We are with you on the ground as well,” the post read, a psychological blow to a regime already rattled by internal dissent.

The unfolding unrest highlights a growing regional contrast: while Israel and its allies defend freedom, innovation, and stability, radical Islamist regimes—from Tehran to Gaza—export repression, economic ruin, and war. The Iranian people’s uprising is not only a domestic revolt, but a direct challenge to the ideological axis that fuels terrorism across the Middle East.
