Rabbi declares tyrants fall as Israel’s ancient prayers expose evil regimes and terror-backed oppressors worldwide.
Prominent Israeli rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu said Sunday that the reported arrest of Venezuelan ruler Nicolás Maduro should not be viewed as an isolated political episode, but as part of a sweeping global pattern marking the collapse of regimes built on evil, corruption, and oppression.
According to Rabbi Eliyahu, a clear historical line connects recent developments: the fall of dictatorships, the elimination of major terror leaders, and the weakening of long-standing authoritarian systems. He described these events as a moral process in which regimes founded on bloodshed, lies, and hatred of Israel are destined to unravel.
“This is not a local incident,” Rabbi Eliyahu wrote. “It is another link in a tightening chain signaling the collapse of evil regimes worldwide.” He pointed to what he described as the downfall of Bashar al-Assad’s rule, the elimination of Hassan Nasrallah and Yahya Sinwar, strikes on Houthi command centers in Yemen, and growing instability within the Iranian ayatollah regime.
Rabbi Eliyahu framed these developments as the fulfillment of Israel’s ancient prayers for the eradication of evil from the world—prayers recited for generations on Rosh Hashanah. “Anyone who lifts their head above the daily headlines,” he said, “can see that this is not coincidence but a pattern.”
He drew parallels to the collapse of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, arguing that history consistently shows that regimes built on repression, antisemitism, and concentrated wealth for tyrannical elites cannot survive. “Whether in Berlin, Moscow, Damascus, Tehran, or Caracas—the same pattern repeats itself,” he said.
Focusing on Venezuela, Rabbi Eliyahu said Maduro transformed an oil-rich nation into a moral and humanitarian disaster marked by hunger, mass emigration, and systemic collapse. “This is not merely economic failure,” he said. “It is moral failure.”
He concluded with a stark message: “Rule founded on evil is destined to fall. The people of Israel rejoice because we recognize this process. Tyrants tremble because they sense it. G-d does not do half a job—those who build power on blood and lies will always end on the wrong side of history.”
