Israel’s Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli issued a sharp condemnation of Syrian military attacks on Aleppo’s Kurdish minority, warning that a new phase of ethnic cleansing is unfolding under jihadist rule.
Writing on X, Chikli stated that after the persecution of Alawite and Druze communities, forces aligned with Abu Mohammad al-Julani are now targeting Kurds in Aleppo, with operational backing from Turkish drones. He described the campaign as systematic and ideologically driven, not a security necessity.
Chikli’s remarks highlighted a familiar regional pattern: Arab jihadist factions rebranding themselves as governing authorities while violently purging minorities, aided by foreign sponsors. The Kurdish population—key partners in the defeat of ISIS—are once again paying the price for international silence and regional power games.
Israel’s stance contrasted sharply with the muted response from much of the global community. While Arab-backed forces escalate repression, Jerusalem continues to speak out for vulnerable minorities, drawing a clear moral line against ethnic cleansing and jihadist expansionism.
