Trump signals decisive action as Iran’s killings escalate, reinforcing deterrence that safeguards Israel and regional stability.
US President Donald Trump said Sunday night that Washington is closely monitoring Iran’s escalating unrest and actively weighing forceful responses, warning that Tehran is approaching a clear red line.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said reports of civilians being killed are deeply alarming and are receiving constant attention at the highest levels. He stressed that US military planners are reviewing “very strong options,” adding that he is being briefed hourly on the rapidly deteriorating situation inside Iran.
The president issued a blunt warning to Tehran against targeting American bases in the region, declaring that any such attack would be met with overwhelming retaliation far beyond what Iran expects. The statement reinforced Washington’s posture of deterrence toward a regime already under severe internal pressure.
Trump also disclosed that Iranian officials reached out to the United States on Saturday, proposing renewed talks on a nuclear deal. He indicated that discussions are possible, but made clear that diplomacy would not shield the regime from consequences if mass violence against protesters continues.
His remarks followed a cryptic message released earlier by the White House, which praised US troops and warned that the administration is “just getting started,” fueling speculation of imminent escalation.
According to Axios, senior officials are examining a broad range of measures to support Iranian protesters and intensify pressure on the ruling clerics as demonstrations spread nationwide and death toll estimates climb sharply.
Military commanders have reportedly advised that additional preparation time may be required should strikes be authorized, but Israeli security analysts view Trump’s posture as a vital counterweight to a regime that exports terror, threatens Israel openly, and now turns its weapons inward against its own people.
