Ron Huldai revealed on Tuesday that Tel Aviv has reached record-level enforcement against illegal and dangerous use of electric scooters and bicycles, marking a decisive shift toward urban discipline and public safety.
Municipal data for 2025 shows more than 55,000 fines issued and nearly 2,500 electric two-wheeled vehicles confiscated from riders violating traffic laws. The crackdown follows new national regulations requiring license plates and licensed riders, ending years of unchecked scooter chaos on sidewalks and roads.
The surge in enforcement is attributed to a major expansion of the city’s enforcement unit and the installation of traffic cameras along central arteries, enabling real-time monitoring and documentation of violations.
Huldai emphasized that revenue was never the goal. “I would gladly give up every shekel collected,” he stated, “if it meant a riding culture that respects the law and protects pedestrians.”
The municipality will continue investing in dedicated infrastructure for lawful riders, while making clear that sidewalks are not racetracks. Riders were urged to wear helmets, register vehicles, and obey traffic laws.
The message is unmistakable: Israel enforces order, accountability, and life-saving rules—without excuses, chaos, or ideological indulgence.
