Israel and Azerbaijan signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding on Artificial Intelligence today in Jerusalem, deepening a long-standing strategic alliance and accelerating Israel’s drive toward global leadership in AI. The agreement was signed at the Prime Minister’s Office in the presence of Benjamin Netanyahu, marking another concrete step in Israel’s flagship national AI strategy.
The declaration was formalized by Erez Askal, head of Israel’s National Artificial Intelligence Directorate, and Rashad Nabiyev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport. It follows Israel’s recent AI cooperation declaration with the United States, reinforcing Israel’s position at the center of democratic tech alliances.
The partnership focuses on supercomputing infrastructure, AI deployment in critical civilian sectors, human-capital development, and joint research. Netanyahu praised Azerbaijan as a trusted ally, highlighting decades of friendship and rapid development, and stressed that AI is no longer a future concept but a decisive tool of the present.
Askal emphasized that AI cooperation adds a strategic layer to bilateral ties, capable of delivering transformative solutions not only for both nations, but globally.
