Terrorist’s Father Praises Hitler Online After Yom Kippur Synagogue Murders, Exposing Radical Incitement

Antisemitic glorification of Holocaust follows brutal synagogue attack, contradicting family’s public condemnation and apology.

The father of Jihad al‑Shamie—the assailant who murdered two Jewish worshippers during Yom Kippur 2025—posted extreme antisemitic incitement on social media, including statements justifying the Holocaust.

The attack took place near a synagogue, killing two Jews and leaving three others critically wounded. It shocked communities across Israel during the holiest day of the Jewish calendar.

In posts published on his personal Facebook account, Dr. Faraj Al-Shamie, a senior physician with past professional ties to the International Committee of the Red Cross in conflict zones in Africa and Afghanistan, claimed Jews and Muslims “lived together in harmony” until Hitler “did what they deserved.” He further used inflammatory language against Israel and employed religious imagery to rationalize violence.

The posts stand in stark contrast to a formal family statement released immediately after the attack, in which relatives described the assault as a “profound shock,” condemned the targeting of innocent civilians, and expressed sympathy for the victims and their families.

The revelation has intensified scrutiny of online radicalization and hate incitement, particularly when voiced by individuals with respected professional backgrounds. Israeli officials and community leaders emphasized that glorifying genocide and legitimizing violence represents a dangerous escalation that must be confronted decisively.
