Washington pushes accelerated peace timeline, warning Ukraine and Russia of coordinated pressure if talks stall.
The United States has set a June deadline for Ukraine and Russia to bring an end to their war, which has dragged on for nearly four years.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the administration of Donald Trump is expected to intensify pressure on both Kyiv and Moscow if the proposed timeline is not met.
“The Americans are proposing that the parties end the war by the beginning of this summer and will probably put pressure on the parties precisely according to this schedule,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that U.S. officials have communicated a strong desire to complete the process by June, emphasizing the need for a clearly defined timetable covering all diplomatic and political steps required to conclude the conflict.
The remarks suggest Washington is seeking a faster resolution through structured negotiations, with little tolerance for delays, as the prolonged war continues to strain regional stability and global security.
