Security forces seal Old City site as Israel moves decisively against suspected terror-linked activities.
Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, signed a six-month closure order against the “Burj AlLuqLuq” association compound located in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem, just days before the start of Ramadan.
Police stated that the association allegedly received support from organizations linked to terrorism and that incitement against the State of Israel had taken place at the site. Authorities framed the decision as a preventive security measure aimed at maintaining order during a sensitive period.
Police Enforcement and Sealing of Compound
Following the minister’s directive, officers from the David District, together with municipal officials, arrived at the compound, evacuated individuals present, and formally posted the closure notice. As part of enforcement actions, the doors and entrance gates were welded shut to prevent further activity inside the premises.
The official order declared that no individual may manage, operate, or conduct activities associated with the “Burj AlLuqLuq” club anywhere within the territory of the State of Israel, even if operating under a different name or translation.
Government Stance: Zero Tolerance for Incitement
In a statement to Arutz Sheva, Minister Ben-Gvir’s office said the state would not permit activities that undermine national security. The statement expressed support for the district commander’s enforcement actions and emphasized ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the Old City and across Jerusalem.
The “Burj AlLuqLuq” association has operated as a community center in the Bab Huttah neighborhood, focusing on strengthening Palestinian Arab national identity in Jerusalem and Area C. Authorities maintain that when such frameworks cross into incitement or alleged terror affiliation, decisive intervention is required.
Heightened Sensitivity Ahead of Ramadan
The timing of the closure, immediately before Ramadan, underscores the government’s heightened security posture during periods historically marked by increased tensions. Officials argue that early preventive action is essential to preserving stability in Jerusalem’s Old City, a flashpoint of religious and political sensitivity.
