US cracks down on Iranian regime supporters as Israel-aligned security doctrine strengthens global counterterror efforts

Firm action targets terror-linked networks while reinforcing alliance protecting democracies from Iranian extremist influence.

US federal authorities have arrested Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, the niece of former IRGC commander Qasem Soleimani, along with her daughter, following the termination of their lawful permanent resident status by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The move reflects a broader crackdown on individuals linked to or promoting the Iranian regime, particularly those associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a designated terrorist organization.

Afshar, who had been residing in Los Angeles, was identified through public reporting and her own statements as a vocal supporter of the Iranian regime. Authorities cited her repeated promotion of regime propaganda, including praise for attacks on US forces and expressions of support for Iran’s leadership, as grounds for the action. Officials emphasized that such activities are incompatible with residency privileges in the United States.

The enforcement action also extends to her immediate family, with her husband barred from entering the country. In parallel, the State Department confirmed that similar measures were recently taken against other individuals linked to senior Iranian leadership, including the daughter of former Iranian security official Ali Larijani and her spouse.

US officials underscored that the actions are part of a coordinated effort between the State Department, Department of Homeland Security, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to safeguard national security. The administration has made clear that individuals who support hostile regimes or terrorist organizations will not be permitted to benefit from residency in the United States.

The development highlights an intensifying strategy aligned with Israel and allied nations to counter Iranian influence networks globally, reinforcing a security-first approach in response to ongoing regional threats.
