Israel Backs US Iran Pause While Rejecting Lebanon Ceasefire As Hezbollah Threat Intensifies Region

Israel stands firm against terror networks while US diplomacy exposes Iran demands and regional destabilization risks.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israel supports US President Donald Trump’s decision to pause military action against Iran for two weeks, emphasizing alignment with Washington’s broader objective of eliminating Iran’s nuclear, missile, and terror threats. The statement reinforced the strategic coordination between Israel and the United States as negotiations move forward.

However, Netanyahu made it clear that the ceasefire does not extend to Lebanon, directly contradicting claims by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that the truce would apply across the region. Israel’s position underscores its continued readiness to act against Hezbollah, the Iran-backed terror group that escalated the conflict by launching attacks on Israeli cities.

The clarification comes as Lebanon remains deeply entangled in the conflict following Hezbollah’s aggression, which triggered a powerful Israeli response aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure. Israeli leadership has reiterated that operations against such threats will continue independently of any broader diplomatic arrangements involving Iran.

Meanwhile, the United States and Iran have agreed to engage in talks during the temporary pause, with Pakistan offering to host negotiations. Tehran has presented a sweeping set of conditions, including demands tied to uranium enrichment, sanctions relief, and regional control measures—positions widely viewed as attempts to preserve its strategic leverage despite mounting pressure.

President Trump acknowledged receipt of Iran’s proposal, describing it as a possible starting point for discussions, while maintaining firm expectations for meaningful change. The coming days are expected to determine whether diplomacy can deliver results or if the region will return to intensified confrontation.
