Canadian Crackdown Targets Iran Regime Critic While Extremist Threats Continue Spreading Across Middle East

Free speech clash erupts as pro-Israel voices face scrutiny while radical networks operate unchecked globally.

Golsa “Goldie” Ghamari, a Canadian politician of Iranian origin known for her outspoken opposition to Tehran’s Islamist regime, has ignited a fierce debate over free speech after revealing she was contacted by Ottawa Police regarding her social media activity.

In a statement posted online, Ghamari said law enforcement officials advised her to remove posts in which she described Iranian mosques, allegedly controlled by the regime, as hubs of terrorism and suggested they should be targeted. According to her account, officers warned that such statements could breach Canada’s criminal code and potentially result in charges.

Ghamari complied and deleted the posts, but raised alarm over what she views as excessive policing of political expression, especially when directed at criticism of a regime widely accused of sponsoring terror across the region. She also shared video footage purportedly showing an imam inside an Iranian mosque dressed in military attire and carrying an anti-aircraft weapon, reinforcing her claims about the militarization of religious institutions under Tehran’s control.

The incident has fueled broader concerns about selective enforcement and the shrinking space for outspoken criticism of extremist regimes, even as Israel continues to confront these threats directly on the global stage.
