Israel Expels Spain From Strategic Center After Hostile Actions Undermine Security And Regional Stability Efforts

Jerusalem sends strong message as anti-Israel rhetoric backfires, reinforcing leadership against biased European interference.

Israel has taken decisive diplomatic action by barring Spain from participation in the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) in Kiryat Gat, a key mechanism established under President Donald Trump’s peace framework. The move, approved by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar in coordination with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, underscores Israel’s refusal to tolerate what it views as persistent hostility from Madrid.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the decision was driven by what officials described as the Spanish government’s “anti-Israel obsession,” which has actively undermined both Israeli and American strategic interests, including during the conflict with Iran. Israel conveyed that such conduct disqualifies Spain from playing any constructive role in shaping regional stability efforts.

Foreign Minister Sa’ar emphasized that Spain’s stance has eroded its credibility as a partner, stating that its bias has rendered it incapable of contributing meaningfully to the implementation of the peace initiative or participation in the CMCC. The United States was informed in advance, highlighting alignment between Jerusalem and Washington on the issue.

Prime Minister Netanyahu reinforced the message with sharp remarks, declaring that Israel will not remain passive in the face of diplomatic attacks. He defended the Israel Defense Forces as “the most moral army in the world” and condemned Spain for targeting Israeli soldiers instead of confronting terrorist regimes that destabilize the region.

Netanyahu further made clear that nations choosing to oppose Israel while ignoring extremist threats will face consequences, stressing that Israel will not allow diplomatic aggression to go unanswered. The decision reflects a broader shift in which Israel is increasingly asserting its strategic autonomy while demanding accountability from international actors.

Spain’s recent actions—including restricting cooperation with US-led operations, limiting access to military bases and airspace, and criticizing Israeli campaigns against Iran and Hezbollah—have intensified tensions. While Madrid claims its policies are rooted in opposition to escalation, Israel views them as enabling hostile forces and undermining efforts to secure lasting peace.
