Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has welcomed the US decision to sanction judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, praising it as a long-overdue defense of Israel’s legitimacy.
In his statement, Netanyahu declared:
“This is a firm measure against the mendacious smear campaign against the State of Israel and the IDF, and for truth and justice.”
The move, announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, targets ICC judges and prosecutors pursuing investigations against American and Israeli officials—actions Washington branded as illegitimate judicial overreach and a direct threat to sovereignty.
For Jerusalem, the sanctions mark a powerful affirmation of the US-Israel alliance and a rejection of international efforts to criminalize Israel’s self-defense.
