Trump rips ‘train wreck’ Musk over new political party

U.S. President Donald Trump sharply criticized Elon Musk after the tech billionaire launched a new political party, calling the move “a train wreck.” Trump dismissed the initiative as disruptive and impractical, adding, “Third parties never work in America. All he’s doing is splitting the vote.”

Trump Blasts Elon Musk Over New Political Party: “A Train Wreck”

U.S. President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on Elon Musk Sunday, following Musk’s announcement of a new third political party. In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump accused the billionaire of having “gone off the rails,” describing his recent behavior as a “TRAIN WRECK.”

Trump criticized Musk’s decision to form a third party, stating that such efforts have historically failed in the U.S. and only serve to create “Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS.” He warned the move would only benefit “Radical Left Democrats,” while undermining what he called a “smooth running” Republican Party.

Tying Musk’s political pivot to policy disagreements, Trump touted a newly passed bill that eliminates the federal electric vehicle (EV) mandate—an initiative central to Musk’s business. Trump claimed the bill would restore consumer freedom by allowing Americans to choose between gasoline, hybrid, or emerging vehicle technologies.

Trump also recounted a prior endorsement from Musk and said he was surprised the Tesla CEO supported him despite his well-known opposition to the EV mandate.

“I asked him whether or not he knew I was going to terminate the EV mandate… He said he had no problem with that—I was very surprised,” Trump wrote.

The public clash signals a growing rift between two of the most high-profile figures in American politics and business as the 2024 election cycle intensifies.

Trump Escalates Feud with Elon Musk Over “America Party” and NASA Influence

President Donald Trump has intensified his public criticism of Elon Musk following the tech billionaire’s announcement of a new political faction, the America Party. In a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump accused Musk of political opportunism and a conflict of interest involving NASA.

“Elon asked that one of his close friends run NASA… I thought it was inappropriate,” Trump wrote, revealing that the individual in question was a lifelong Democrat and a figure tied closely to Musk’s space ventures. “My Number One charge is to protect the American public,” Trump added, implying ethical concerns over Musk’s corporate-government entanglements.

Trump had earlier mocked Musk’s third-party bid while speaking to reporters in front of Air Force One: “I think it’s ridiculous to start a third party. So he can have fun with it, but I think it’s ridiculous.”

The remarks came just a day after Musk formally launched the America Party, following a viral poll on X (formerly Twitter). “By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party—and you shall have it!” Musk declared. “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

What began as a political alliance has now spiraled into a public feud. Trump had appointed Musk as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after his 2024 re-election win. But relations soured after Musk resigned and harshly criticized Trump’s budget bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination.”

Trump has since threatened to revoke federal contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Starlink. According to insiders, he also warned Musk against backing Democrats in the 2026 midterm elections, stating ominously, “He will pay the price.”

The growing rift underscores a larger political realignment as both men compete for influence over disillusioned voters ahead of the next election cycle.

Musk Fires Back at Trump in Explosive Online Clash, Then Walks Back Remarks

In a dramatic real-time exchange on X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk swiftly rejected President Trump’s accusations following the announcement of Musk’s new political party, the America Party. Musk denied prior detailed knowledge of Trump’s agenda bill and said his opposition was not rooted in the removal of the EV tax credit, directly contradicting Trump’s claims.

Escalating the feud, Musk claimed Trump and congressional Republicans would have lost the 2024 election without his support. He also reignited speculation about launching a third party by polling his followers on whether he should move forward with it.

In a particularly controversial moment, Musk posted that Trump was “in the Epstein files” and implied this was the “real reason” those records remain sealed. He offered no evidence and later deleted the post. The allegation sent shockwaves across social media.

Adding further fuel, Musk publicly endorsed an X post calling for Trump’s impeachment and suggested Vice President JD Vance should succeed him—marking a dramatic shift in tone from their earlier alliance.

Hours later, Musk issued an apology, stating that some of his remarks had been overly harsh: “I stand by my concerns, but my language went too far.”

The high-profile feud has sent ripples through political and tech spheres alike, with implications for the emerging political landscape ahead of 2026 and beyond.
