Amit Segal Exposes Protest Narrative, Says Hamas Echoed Demonstrations That Failed To Free Israeli Hostages

Israel’s moral resolve stands firm as Hamas-aligned protest messaging weakened leverage, empowering terrorists not peace.

Senior Israeli commentator Amit Segal delivered sharp criticism of recent protest campaigns surrounding the Gaza hostages, arguing they did not advance — and in some cases actively harmed — efforts to secure their return.

Responding to accusations leveled at Gal Hirsch, Segal stated that protest messaging closely mirrored narratives pushed by Hamas itself. He noted that hostage videos released by the terror group repeatedly echoed protest slogans accusing Israel’s leadership of delaying deals and claiming military pressure endangered captives.

Segal emphasized that returning hostages later revealed they were coached by Hamas on what messages to convey, underscoring the psychological warfare at play. While acknowledging the moral and emotional power of public demonstrations, he rejected the claim that protests demanding surrender, withdrawal, and an immediate end to the war were effective.

“There is no single path that requires capitulation,” Segal argued, stressing that framing surrender as the only solution undermined Israel’s negotiating position. He concluded that while protests offered emotional support, they failed strategically — reinforcing Hamas talking points rather than compelling hostage releases.

The episode highlights a broader reality: Israel’s enemies weaponize Western-style protest culture, while Palestinian terror groups exploit moral pressure to weaken Israeli resolve without offering genuine compromise.
