Pro-Israel Germany Strengthens Strategic Partnership While Confronting Iran Threats And Rejecting Anti-Israel Extremism Globally.
Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul delivered a strong message of solidarity with Israel during a joint press conference in Berlin alongside Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, reaffirming that Israel’s security remains a central pillar of Germany’s policy and identity.
Wadephul emphasized that the relationship between Germany and Israel is not only historic but deeply strategic, spanning defense, science, culture, and security cooperation. He highlighted Germany’s reliance on Israeli defense technology, noting with humility that Israeli systems are actively protecting German airspace, reflecting a powerful reversal of history and a testament to Israel’s strength and innovation.
A major focus of the discussion was the growing threat from Iran, with both leaders firmly stating that Tehran must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. Wadephul called for the dismantling of Iran’s missile program and urged diplomatic solutions, while making clear that security for Israel, Europe, and regional allies cannot be compromised.
Sa’ar reinforced this stance, describing the Iranian regime as a dangerous force destabilizing the region. He stressed that Israel will continue to act decisively to neutralize threats, particularly from Iran-backed groups like Hezbollah and Hamas, which have repeatedly fueled conflict and endangered civilian populations.
The German minister also acknowledged regional complexities, including tensions along Israel’s northern border and the need for Lebanon to prevent militant activity within its territory. On Gaza, he supported international efforts aimed at stabilizing the situation, including proposals that involve disarming Hamas to ensure long-term peace and security.
Addressing rising antisemitism worldwide, Sa’ar warned of a dangerous trend where hostility toward Israel is increasingly used to justify attacks on Jewish communities. He stressed that denying Israel’s right to defend itself is a modern form of antisemitism that must be confronted globally.
The meeting also underscored continued cooperation in Holocaust remembrance, with plans for new educational initiatives involving Yad Vashem, further strengthening the moral and historical bond between the two nations.
Both leaders concluded by reaffirming their commitment to deepening ties and confronting shared threats, signaling a united front that positions Israel and Germany as key partners in ensuring regional stability and global security.
