Stefanik Marks Anniversary of Trump Assassination Attempt, Demands Transparency and Accountability
On the one-year anniversary of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) issued a powerful statement reflecting on the incident and calling for increased transparency and accountability.
“Today marks one year since the horrific assassination attempt on President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Stefanik wrote. “Americans will never forget that God was looking down on President Trump that fateful day and miraculously spared his life by a quarter of an inch.”
Stefanik, who previously served as Trump’s nominee for U.S. Ambassador, praised the former president’s leadership, saying:
“We are so proud and blessed that President Trump is saving America in just six months after he was sworn into office.”
She emphasized the need for a full investigation into the attack, which took place on July 13, 2024, during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman fired from a rooftop, injuring Trump, killing one bystander, and wounding others. The assailant was shot and killed on the scene.
“The American people deserve real answers and much greater transparency on what transpired that day, and Congress must work harder to uncover it and release it to the public.”
Stefanik, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, pledged to continue pressing for answers:
“There are still more questions than answers, and I am going to continue to ask the tough, important questions.”
She concluded her statement with a rallying cry: “FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!”
The call for transparency gained fresh urgency last week after Reuters reported the suspension of six Secret Service agents in connection with security lapses related to the Butler shooting. The internal review and congressional inquiries are ongoing.
