Security around Israel’s top leaders has been dramatically tightened following threats of revenge from Yemen after a deadly IAF strike eliminated senior Houthi officials in Sana’a.
Israel has entered a heightened state of alert, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, and other senior officials now under extraordinary Shin Bet protection, Kan News reported.
The Shin Bet has rolled out what sources described as “special and extraordinary measures” to shield Israel’s leadership, following direct threats of retaliation from Yemen’s Houthi regime.
The development comes after a high-precision Israeli Air Force strike in central Sana’a, Yemen, last week that targeted a secret gathering of top Houthi political and military figures. Intelligence provided by the IDF’s Military Intelligence Directorate (AMAN) indicated that senior officials had convened to hear a speech by their leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.
Inside the building were over ten senior Houthi leaders, including the group’s Chief of Staff Muhammad Abd Al-Karim al-Ghamari—who previously survived an assassination attempt—as well as the Houthi Defense and Interior Ministers. Reports suggest the strike dealt a major blow to the Iranian-backed militia’s command structure.
Israel now braces for possible reprisal attacks, with its political and defense leadership shielded under unprecedented security protocols.
