Under Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir’s directive, the IDF’s 91st Division completed its first full-scale war exercise in two years, sharpening Israel’s northern defense readiness.
In a powerful demonstration of restored strength and readiness, the IDF’s 91st Division this week completed its first full divisional exercise in two years, following orders from Chief of the General Staff LTG Eyal Zamir to resume comprehensive war training across all commands after two years of continuous combat operations.
The large-scale exercise, held under the Northern Command, tested the division’s defensive and offensive operational capabilities and its coordination between air, ground, and intelligence units.
Zamir personally visited the training zone on Tuesday, accompanied by Northern Command Chief MG Rafi Milo, Ground Forces Commander MG Nadav Lotan, 91st Division Commander BG Yuval Gaz, and National Center for Ground Training Commander BG Eliad Moati. Together they observed live battlefield drills simulating multi-front engagements and rapid response to northern threats.
“We must maintain absolute readiness at every moment, in every arena,” Zamir told division commanders during a field briefing. “This exercise symbolizes the IDF’s renewed commitment to restoring full-scale operational capability after years of war.”
The 91st Division’s training included real-time combat scenarios, urban warfare drills, and joint-force coordination exercises — preparing the division to respond swiftly to any escalation from Hezbollah or other Iranian-backed terror elements along Israel’s northern border.
Zamir also held a roundtable with battalion commanders from both regular and reserve units, emphasizing inter-corps integration and the IDF’s commitment to maintaining its qualitative military edge.
The Northern Command hailed the exercise as a “strategic milestone in post-war combat regeneration”, marking the IDF’s transition from reactive defense to proactive preparedness.
Israeli defense analysts noted that the exercise sends a clear signal to Israel’s enemies: even after years of high-intensity warfare in Gaza, the IDF remains fully capable, fully alert, and fully ready to defend Israel’s sovereignty on all fronts.
