Violence in Arab sector: Father with psychiatric history suspected of stabbing his 3-year-old daughter to death. Police apprehended him despite his attempt to flee.
A 3-year-old girl was murdered early Monday in the Sur Baher neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem. Her father, the primary suspect, fled the scene but was quickly apprehended by Border Police after a short chase.
Authorities say the father, who has a known psychiatric history but no prior record of violence, allegedly stabbed his daughter during a court-ordered visitation. The parents are divorced.
Paramedic Yarin Shitrit of Magen David Adom said: “The girl was unconscious with penetrating injuries. Despite our efforts, we had no choice but to pronounce her dead.”
An investigation is underway.
