Israeli FM Gideon Sa’ar Mocks Iranian Counterpart After Tirade Against Netanyahu
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar fired back sharply on Sunday at his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, after the latter launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, downplaying Israel’s military accomplishments and mocking its diplomatic standing.
The spat began when Araghchi posted a lengthy rant on X (formerly Twitter), claiming that Netanyahu had failed on multiple fronts:
“Netanyahu pledged victory in Gaza almost two years ago. The end result: military quagmire, a war crimes arrest warrant, and 200,000 new Hamas recruits,” wrote Araghchi.
He further accused Israel of failing in its campaign against Iran’s nuclear program:
“In Iran, he dreamed of erasing over 40 years of peaceful nuclear achievements. Result? Every martyred academic trained over 100 disciples ready to carry on. They will show Netanyahu what they are capable of.”
The Iranian foreign minister escalated his claims by referencing Israeli censorship and U.S. support:
“He ran to ‘Daddy’ when our powerful missiles flattened secret Israeli regime sites—still under gag order. Now he dares to dictate terms to the U.S. about what should or shouldn’t be said in talks with Iran.”
Araghchi concluded with a swipe at Netanyahu’s state of mind:
“Apart from the farce that Iran would ever take orders from a wanted war criminal—what exactly is Netanyahu smoking? And if nothing, what does the Mossad have on the White House?”
Sa’ar’s Cool-Headed Clapback
Foreign Minister Sa’ar wasn’t impressed. He replied on X:
“Trying to remember when I last read something so sweaty and tense. Try to stay cool, Minister!”
Sa’ar also reminded followers of a previous incident where Araghchi abruptly canceled a CNN interview, dodging a scheduled Israeli rebuttal:
“Does anyone know why the Iranian Foreign Minister canceled his CNN appearance at the last minute?” Sa’ar quipped last month.
The latest exchange highlights the deepening war of words between Jerusalem and Tehran as tensions remain high following Israel’s recent campaign against Iranian military infrastructure and top operatives.
