A 70-year-old left-wing woman from central Israel has been arrested for allegedly conspiring to assassinate Prime Minister Netanyahu with an explosive device.
Central Israel – July 17, 2025:
In a chilling turn of events, Israeli security services have arrested a 70-year-old leftist woman suspected of conspiring to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu using an explosive device. The Shin Bet confirmed the arrest occurred roughly two weeks ago, following intelligence indicating collaboration with unnamed individuals to orchestrate the alleged attack.
The suspect has since been released under stringent conditions, including a court-ordered ban on approaching government institutions or the Prime Minister himself.
According to Kan News, an indictment is expected Thursday, with charges including conspiracy to commit a crime and conspiracy to carry out an act of terror.
This arrest comes against a backdrop of intensifying political unrest. In a separate incident last year, a left-wing protester was caught on video during anti-government demonstrations at Kaplan Street, calling for Netanyahu’s assassination. When a bystander defended Netanyahu’s democratic mandate, the protester replied chillingly:
“We will see to it that they kill him.”
The video spread rapidly on social media, prompting public outrage and calls for legal action.
Opposition Leader Yair Lapid denounced the alleged assassination plot unequivocally, stating:
“Any individual who has tried—or will try—to harm the Prime Minister must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
The Shin Bet has not released the identities of the woman’s alleged co-conspirators, nor details of the explosive device. Authorities continue to investigate potential networks behind the plot.
