U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee defends Israel’s right to build in the E1 area, blames Hamas for prolonging the war, and comments on Netanyahu’s trial with a symbolic Bugs Bunny gesture.
On Monday morning, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee gave a wide-ranging interview to Army Radio, offering strong backing for Israel’s controversial building plans in the E1 corridor.
“This is not a violation of international law,” Huckabee declared. “We will not dictate to Israel what to do, we will not interfere in the running of the country. It would be very strange to say that others can live in this area but Israelis cannot.”
🔥 On the War and Hamas
Huckabee squarely blamed Hamas for the conflict’s duration:
“The reason the war has lasted 22 months is because Hamas wanted it to last so long. They did not hold serious negotiations on the Witkoff outline while Israel did everything in its power to see it through.”
🔓 On Hostage Talks
He noted that negotiations appear to have resumed, attributing it either to President Trump’s latest remarks or Israel’s determination to push deeper into Gaza.
“Israel is the one who has to choose between a partial deal and a full one,” he said.
🎭 On Netanyahu’s Trial & the Bugs Bunny Doll
Huckabee also addressed his headline-grabbing appearance at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s trial, where he was seen holding a Bugs Bunny doll:
“I didn’t come to determine what will happen in the trial, just to remind you that our president went through something similar. It doesn’t make sense that if you can’t defeat your opponent in an election, you try to take him down in a legal proceeding.”
With clear positions on Israel’s sovereignty, the Gaza war, and judicial politics, Huckabee signaled that the U.S.-Israel alliance remains firmly aligned under his watch.
