From Battlefield to Stage: Medic Recalls Saving Idan Amedi After Gaza Blast

Dr. Tuvia Book, the medic who pulled singer-actor Idan Amedi back from the brink of death in Gaza, recounts the harrowing rescue—and the emotional moment he reunited with the star at his comeback performance.

The medic who saved the life of Israeli singer and Fauda actor Idan Amedi after he was gravely wounded in Gaza has shared his dramatic story—describing both the horror of the battlefield and the joy of seeing Amedi back on stage.

Speaking to Channel 14, Dr. Tuvia Book revealed that when he first reached Amedi amid a mass-casualty incident, he did not realize he was treating a household name.

“We arrived at a pretty serious incident—a massive explosion, fatalities everywhere. Then we saw a soldier lying in the field. He was charred, injured, not breathing, unconscious, without a dog tag—without anything,” Book recalled.

Amedi’s condition was so severe that the medics assumed he was just another young soldier.

“We thought he was 27 because he was in peak physical condition. Honestly, I didn’t think he’d survive.”

Book detailed that Amedi suffered multiple fractures in his hands and severe burns. “Absolutely not,” he said when asked if he ever imagined that the unconscious soldier would one day return to the stage.

The Reunion

This past Saturday night, Book was in the audience when Amedi performed live—one year after the near-fatal attack.

“I didn’t expect it at all. I love his songs and his role in Fauda—it was a real surprise. To see him alive, singing, after what I saw that day… it was overwhelming.”

What began as a desperate fight for life in Gaza ended in an emotional embrace of survival and resilience, symbolizing Israel’s enduring spirit in the face of war.
