The excavator purchased by Master Sergeant (res.) Abraham Azulay—who fell fighting terrorists in Gaza—has returned to the battlefield, continuing his mission of destroying enemy strongholds.
On Monday, the excavator once owned by fallen IDF reservist Master Sergeant (res.) Abraham Azulay returned to service in Gaza—operating not far from the site where he gave his life in battle.
Azulay, who left his civilian job at the start of the war, personally purchased the heavy machine to join Israel’s engineering operations against Hamas. With it, he and his comrades destroyed thousands of terror structures.
His brother, Mordechai Azulay, recalled the sacrifice in a moving tribute to Arutz Sheva:
“My brother Abraham was a hero. He bought the excavator with his own money. He destroyed thousands of buildings—first with the Uria Squad, later with his own machine. It was his mission. He gave everything for it.”
A Mission of Destruction Against Terror
Mordechai emphasized that Abraham saw the work as a sacred duty:
“It was very important to him to destroy Gaza’s terror infrastructure, so the enemy would have nowhere to return. That was his goal in this war.”
Azulay fell during a fierce ambush, holding off terrorists alone for an extended time.
“Just like we know him—always a hero,” Mordechai said. “Thanks to his courage, they didn’t manage to capture him.”
His Legacy Lives On
Now, the machine he dedicated to Israel’s fight continues to serve IDF soldiers, turning Azulay’s personal sacrifice into a living legacy on the battlefield.
