Israeli Man Attacked and Carjacked After Entering Area A Near Joseph’s Tomb – Rescued by Civil Administration

An Israeli citizen was violently attacked and had his vehicle stolen after mistakenly entering Area A near Joseph’s Tomb, before being rescued by Civil Administration and IDF forces.

Tensions flared in Shechem (Nablus) on Monday after an Israeli citizen entered Area A—territory under full Palestinian Authority control—near Joseph’s Tomb, where he was attacked and his car stolen by a mob.

According to the Civil Administration’s coordination and liaison unit, security forces rushed to the scene after receiving a distress report. The man was swiftly extracted from the area under protection and transferred safely to IDF custody.

Initial investigations reveal that the individual had driven to the Joseph’s Tomb compound. Shortly after leaving the site, his vehicle suffered a mechanical breakdown. When he stepped out to inspect it, he was set upon by assailants who violently attacked him and then fled with his car.

Military officials reiterated that entry into Area A is strictly forbidden for Israeli citizens and poses grave dangers:
“This incident underscores once again that such entry is illegal and endangers lives. We urge the public to adhere to security guidelines to prevent future tragedies.”

The event highlights both the ongoing volatility around Joseph’s Tomb, a site of repeated clashes and high symbolic value, and the severe risks faced by any Israelis entering Palestinian-controlled areas without authorization.
