Arab Teen Arrested for Hurling Rock at Baby’s Stroller in Jerusalem

A 17-year-old from Jerusalem’s Isawiya neighborhood was arrested after allegedly throwing a rock at a six-month-old baby’s stroller in French Hill following an argument with the child’s parents.

Tensions in Jerusalem flared this week after a 17-year-old Arab resident of Isawiya was arrested on suspicion of hurling a rock at the stroller of a six-month-old infant in the city’s French Hill neighborhood.

According to police, the incident began with a verbal altercation between the baby’s parents and the suspect at a local shopping center. Witnesses said the suspect shouted curses at the family before picking up a stone and throwing it at the stroller, narrowly missing the infant.

The attacker then fled the scene, but Jerusalem District command center surveillance helped police quickly identify him. Officers from the Shalem police station and Border Police forces later arrested the teenager at his home in Isawiya.

The suspect was taken for interrogation at the Shalem station and brought before the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court, which extended his detention until Thursday to allow further investigation.

Police officials condemned the assault, emphasizing the severe danger posed to innocent civilians when rocks are used as weapons:
“This was an attack that could have ended in tragedy. We will continue to act firmly against anyone who endangers lives in Jerusalem.”

The case adds to the growing list of violent incidents in the capital in recent weeks, underscoring simmering tensions between Jewish and Arab residents in mixed areas of the city.
