A Belgian hospital is under fire after a doctor inserted an antisemitic slur into a child’s medical record, sparking outrage and formal complaints.
A disturbing scandal has erupted in the quiet Belgian town of Knokke, where a 9-year-old girl’s hospital visit turned into a shocking case of antisemitism.
The child, treated for “traumatic pain in the lower part of the left arm,” had her medical file deliberately altered by the attending physician, who outrageously listed her allergy as “Jewish (Israeli).” The entry, placed in the official medical record, bore no clinical relevance—only hatred.
The JID (Jewish Information & Documentation Center), which monitors antisemitism, uncovered that the doctor—reportedly of Middle Eastern descent—has shared openly anti-Israel rhetoric in Arabic on his social media. The organization announced it is lodging formal complaints with Belgian police and the national medical council.
“This isn’t just an antisemitic insult against a child—it is a flagrant violation of medical ethics and a stain on Belgium’s healthcare system,” JID declared. Chairman Ralph Pace condemned the act as “a case of maximum severity” and vowed to pursue every legal and disciplinary measure.
The incident comes amid a surge of antisemitic behavior across Europe following October 7. From Ireland to Norway, Jewish patients increasingly report discomfort or even conceal their identity when seeking treatment.
JID has called on the hospital and the Belgian Medical Council to act decisively:
“Antisemitism must never be normalized, especially not in a medical file of a child.”
