Eldad: Netanyahu Hides Behind Trump to Dodge Sovereignty in Judea and Samaria

Former MK Prof. Aryeh Eldad blasts PM Netanyahu, accusing him of never intending to apply sovereignty in Judea and Samaria and using Trump’s veto as political cover.

Former Knesset member Prof. Aryeh Eldad delivered a scathing critique of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday, claiming the Prime Minister has no genuine intention of applying Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria—and is hiding behind U.S. President Donald Trump to avoid doing so.

Speaking to Radio 103FM, Eldad declared:

“Netanyahu never wanted sovereignty for even a moment. Trump gave him the perfect alibi. He told Netanyahu: ‘Let me take the blame.’ Now Netanyahu can return home with a ready-made excuse.”

With biting sarcasm, Eldad added:

“At the National Security Council, there was a debate over what was louder—the bombs in Yemen, or Netanyahu’s sigh of relief when he heard Trump won’t let him enact sovereignty.”

🇮🇱 The Bigger Picture

Eldad’s remarks highlight a persistent tension inside Israel’s nationalist camp: while many on the Right demand immediate sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, critics accuse Netanyahu of stalling, hedging, or outsourcing responsibility to Washington.

For Netanyahu’s supporters, U.S. coordination is essential for international legitimacy. But for Eldad and others, sovereignty is a historic mission Israel must carry out on its own terms—without waiting for American approval.
