YESHA Council Victory: Netanyahu Strikes Clause Blocking Israeli Sovereignty in Judea and Samaria

After urgent talks in New York, a dangerous clause threatening Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria was removed from Trump’s Gaza plan.

In a decisive political win for Israel’s heartland, the YESHA Council successfully pressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to eliminate a clause in the proposed Gaza deal that would have frozen Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.

The clause had been embedded in U.S. President Donald Trump’s ceasefire outline, tied to the release of hostages held by the Hamas terror regime. Acceptance of the proposal, as initially written, would have barred Israel from exercising sovereignty in its biblical and strategic heartland—regardless of future security realities.

YESHA leaders, including Chairman Israel Ganz, Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan, Ariel Mayor Yair Chetboun, and CEO Omer Rahamim, urgently convened with Netanyahu in New York. While the Prime Minister initially refrained from giving an explicit commitment, the Council continued its lobbying efforts. Only when the official plan was later released in Washington did relief sweep the Israeli delegation— the sovereignty-blocking clause had been entirely removed.

Still, Council officials warned that the final document carries troubling openings that could pave the way for a Palestinian state or the mass release of terrorists—both red lines for Israel’s security and future.

Declaring sovereignty over Judea and Samaria as its top national mission, the YESHA Council vowed to intensify its campaign to ensure Israel’s government fulfills its historic duty during the current term.In a decisive political win for Israel’s heartland, the YESHA Council successfully pressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to eliminate a clause in the proposed Gaza deal that would have frozen Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.
