Trump to Draw Red Line on Hamas: Accept Ceasefire Deal or Face Total Defeat

The White House confirmed Trump will set a final deadline for Hamas to accept a ceasefire plan—one applauded worldwide but fiercely opposed by the terror group.

The White House confirmed Thursday that President Donald Trump will draw a “red line” on how long Hamas will be given to respond to his peace plan—one that Israel has already accepted and much of the world has endorsed.

Trump previously said Hamas would have three to four days to reply to the proposal, which demands the terror group’s full disarmament—a condition Hamas has repeatedly refused.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt stressed the seriousness of the plan:

“The president and his team worked very hard on this 20-point, comprehensive plan that has been applauded all over the world. This is an acceptable plan, and we expect Hamas to accept it so we can move forward.”

But Hamas leaders remain defiant.

  • CBS initially reported the terror group was “leaning toward acceptance.”
  • By Wednesday, however, a senior Hamas figure told the BBC the group would likely reject the plan because it “serves Israel’s interests.”
  • On Thursday, BBC reported that Hamas’s Gaza military chief, Izz ad-Din al-Haddad, flatly opposed Trump’s proposal, insisting that the plan’s purpose is to end Hamas rule entirely—and therefore Hamas must continue fighting.

🔎 What It Means

Trump’s plan places Hamas in a corner: accept disarmament and allow Gaza a chance at rebuilding—or reject it and face total destruction at Israel’s hands, backed by Washington.

For Israel, the plan is already a victory: it cements international recognition that Hamas—not Israel—is the obstacle to peace.
