A mob of 50 Arabs ambushed six Jews near Carmel, injuring four, before IDF forces restored order and made arrests.
Tensions flared in Judea and Samaria on Saturday when a mob of around 50 Arabs violently attacked a group of six Jewish residents near the community of Carmel, in the Southern Hebron Hills.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers rushed the Jews in a coordinated assault, beating and striking them with rocks and clubs before IDF troops and the Carmel rapid response team arrived to regain control of the scene.
Four Jewish victims sustained head injuries and were evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva. Several IDF soldiers were also lightly wounded but did not require hospitalization.
Israeli security forces conducted arrests in a nearby Arab village, believed to be the attackers’ base. Officials noted that the village is filled with illegal structures, built dangerously close to Jewish homes in Carmel — a long-standing security concern in the area.
Eliram Azulai, head of the Har Hebron Regional Council, condemned the attack as “a serious and dangerous act of terror.”
“These terrorists live in illegal buildings just dozens of meters from Jewish homes,” Azulai warned. “Today it ended with wounded — tomorrow, God forbid, it could end with an October 7-style massacre inside our community.”
Azulai called on the Defense Ministry and Civil Administration to demolish the illegal outpost of Umm al-Khir and establish a secure buffer zone to protect Jewish residents.
“Anti-Israeli groups are systematically fanning the flames and entrenching Arab presence right next to our towns,” he said. “We must act decisively — dismantle illegal structures, enforce the law, and ensure these rioters face full justice.”
Israeli security officials have warned for months that illegal Arab construction near Jewish communities in southern Mount Hebron poses not only a legal violation but an escalating security threat. Saturday’s attack has reignited demands for stronger deterrence and a clear message:
Israel’s sovereignty and its citizens’ safety in Judea and Samaria are non-negotiable.
