Yair Netanyahu Poised for Senior Role in World Zionist Organization as Likud Expands Influence in Global Jewish Institutions

Prime Minister Netanyahu’s son Yair is set to head the World Zionist Organization’s Public Diplomacy Department, signaling a right-wing consolidation in key Zionist institutions amid opposition backlash.

In a move that underscores the growing strength of Israel’s nationalist camp in global Jewish affairs, Yair Netanyahu, son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is set to be appointed as Head of Public Diplomacy at the World Zionist Organization (WZO) — one of the most influential bodies shaping Zionist advocacy worldwide.

The appointment, backed by Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar and supported by the Prime Minister himself, reflects a strategic realignment within the WZO to strengthen Israel’s voice in the global arena. The position, which carries a significant monthly salary, will place Yair at the forefront of international hasbara — Israel’s public diplomacy and strategic communication efforts.

The move has sparked an uproar among opposition parties, particularly Yesh Atid, which denounced the decision as “disgraceful.” The party vowed to withhold its cooperation within the WZO framework, despite having previously partnered with right-wing factions. Opposition figures claimed the appointment reflects political favoritism — yet supporters argue it’s a fitting recognition of Yair’s years of outspoken defense of Israel on global platforms, where he has been an unrelenting voice against anti-Israel bias and media hypocrisy.

Under the broader political agreement, the right-wing bloc is poised to expand its influence across Israel’s national institutions, including the Jewish Agency, KKL-JNF (Jewish National Fund), and the World Zionist Organization — ensuring these cornerstone organizations remain aligned with the priorities of a proud and secure Jewish state.

Meanwhile, the WZO’s leadership is set for further transformation. Rabbi Doron Perez, Executive Chairman of World Mizrahi and father of fallen IDF hero Daniel Perez, who was killed defending Israel on October 7th, is expected to be named Chairman of the World Zionist Organization, replacing Yaakov Hagoel. The deeply symbolic appointment of a bereaved father who embodies Zionist resilience has been widely praised across Israel’s political spectrum.

Although the final confirmation of Yair Netanyahu’s appointment has been delayed for two weeks due to procedural disagreements, insiders say the outcome is “virtually assured,” marking a generational milestone for Israel’s global advocacy network.

If confirmed, Yair’s role will strengthen Israel’s voice on the world stage — uniting Zionist institutions behind a clear, unapologetic message: Israel will never bow to slander or intimidation.
