Jerusalem Woman Escapes Kidnapping Attempt After Jumping from Moving Car — Attacker Arrested

A Jerusalem woman narrowly escaped abduction by leaping from a moving car; police arrested the 22-year-old suspect within hours.

Jerusalem — A young woman’s quick thinking and courage prevented a potential tragedy late Wednesday when she escaped an attempted kidnapping in Jerusalem.

According to police reports, the 22-year-old suspect, a resident of Jerusalem, offered the woman a ride near Mount Herzl. Believing it was a routine gesture of kindness, she entered his vehicle — but the situation quickly turned terrifying.

When they reached her intended destination, the driver allegedly locked the doors, pulled out a sharp object, and refused to let her leave. As he continued to drive, the woman realized she had only seconds to act.

Summoning extraordinary bravery, she unlocked and opened the passenger door while the car was still in motion, throwing herself out to freedom. She hid in roadside bushes until police arrived at the scene, shaken but safe.

Law enforcement units launched an immediate pursuit, locating and arresting the suspect within hours. His detention has been extended for four days as investigators gather evidence and question him on suspicion of attempted kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment.

Police praised the woman’s presence of mind and urged the public to remain vigilant when accepting rides from strangers. The incident has sparked calls for stronger deterrents against violence toward women and stricter background checks for ride-share drivers in the city.
